Largest and least-framerate friendly version of AI.

Let me explain:
Flight Simulator uses LOD - Level of Details. The AI models of PAI have very low LOD levels (at least the ones we tested Wink), those of AIA have many LODs. So what does this mean? Well an aircraft consists of polygons, an aircraft with only 1 LOD and 30000 polygons that is 5m from you and the same aircraft that is 10 nM away from you will have both 30000 polygons... While at 10nm you don't see much of the airplane.

The idea is to have as less polygons as possible and have a smooth transmition (thus LODs).

Here is a list of some polygon counts done by Filip:
Code:
AIA B737-400:   LOD1=1863  LOD5=102
ARNZ B737-400:  LOD1=2008  LOD5=99
FS9 B737-400:   LOD1=5058  LOD9=26
PAI B737-400:   LOD1=4638  LOD3=64
PMDG B737-700:  LOD1=42829

AIA B747-400:   LOD1=3562  LOD16=48
FS9 B747-400:   LOD1=6493  LOD7=24
FSPainter B744: LOD1=6496  LOD5=66
PAI B747-400:   LOD1=5754  LOD3=3148

ARNZ A319:      LOD1=2154  LOD5=403
FSPainter A319: LOD1=6153  LOD5=68
PAI A319:       LOD1=7443  LOD3=172
PSS A319:       LOD1=15571

ARNZ A321:      LOD1=2126  LOD5=403
FSPainter A321: LOD1=6750  LOD4=464
PAI A321:       LOD1=7012  LOD3=112
PSS A321:       LOD1=16066

FSPainter A330: LOD1=4827  LOD5=96
PAI A330:       LOD1=7787  LOD3=472
PSS A330:       LOD1=34075

FSPainter MD81: LOD1=4052  LOD5=164
PAI MD-83:      LOD1=3792  LOD3=1133
FS9 MD-83:      LOD1=5068  LOD10=40

PremAircraft C130: LOD1=862
Mike Stone C130:   LOD1=23084

FS9 Cessna 172: LOD1=5252  LOD15=26
FS9 Bell 206B:  LOD1=6518  LOD8=18
FS9 DC-3:       LOD1=12259 LOD6=46

And also read the technical details at the AIA website:
http://www.ai-aardvark.com/modeling/LOD_101/aia_LOD.html

I hope this explains why we choose for AIA and FSPainter.

ok, well i didnt know that (and dont understand alot of it  Cool ) but im sure ur right.

question: will it be possible to add own models? Its just that i have this huge collection of PAI on my disk.
For example a Fokker 50 or RJ85/100. I think they both dont exist in AIA and FSP, but they do in PAI...
